    Immigrated to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia  from New York State after the American Revolution. (Note: Bill Tufts found evidence that Aaron and his brothers are decended from Arie's grandson, Conrad.) PIONEERS IN ONTARIO
    
    Aaron DeLong Sr was a member of Loyal American Regiment(LAR) under Major Barclay's Company.  He was born in New York.   Bill Tufts has some evidence that the three brothers are descended from Arie's grandson Conrad, According to "Our First Families" the three brothers are descended from Nicholas & Johanna(Dolsen) DeLong.
          Aaron,Simon and John show in Loyalist Muster Roll commanded by Colonel Beverly Guanus- May 11,1782 (National Library of Canada in Ottawa, Canada File no 4218-c4219) as the following:
    Aaron DeLong(Private) John DeLong(Private) and Simon DeLong- Major Barclay's Agent- believe he only 15 at the time.
          Aaron and John came to New Brunswick in 1783-1784 on ship called "The Ann". Aaron was born in 1750 or 1757(according to St Martins's Families- a Quaco Heritage by David Howard.) Aaron died
    prior to 1851 in Millstream , New Brunswick prior to 1851 NB Census.
          Aaron first lived in Gagetown after arrival in NB in 1783. By 1786/1787 he had moved to Kennebecasis River (near Gondola Point, NB) and by 1801(probably earlier than 1799) had moved to Millstream(North of Sussex, NB) He was given a land grant at 38 Millstream, Studholm Parish, Kings Co, NB 400 acres 1809/12/11 Vol. E No 517.- (from Natural Resources- Land Grants)
    
    The Following is taken from notes of Bill Tufts, Gloucester, Ontario.:
    
    In 1816 Aaron Sr. sold his land and this appears to be about the time his children started moving in different directions in the family's break up. John and Charles G moved to Sheffield Parish and lived at Little River(aka Ripples) Hezekiah and Aaron were in St Martins by 1820. Hezekiah married Elizabeth McCumber and lived in St Martins East. He is buried in family cemetery on this property. Across the road was his brother Aaron and Aaron father-in-law, Jacob Berry (in the Berry Burial Ground)
    Aaron Jr's property at Bayview was bounded on the south by the Bay of Fundy. He became engaged in the shipbuilding trade and was mostly involved with the schooners used in the coastal trade with New England. Records of several vessels appears in the Saint John Registry listing him as builder and sometimes as Captain.  Aaron's own property was unsuitable for shipbuilding because of the sheer cliffs along the shore, but his father-in-law's shoreline was ideal. Along the eastern edge of Jacob Berry's land was Berry Brook, which emptied into the Bay just below the Berry Burial Ground at Berry Beach. The descent there was more gradual and a spit of land between the brook and the Bay allowed for shipbuilding either on the spit or behind it in the stream. Even in 1985 when Bill Tufts visited the site the remnants were mostly grown over of what was once a timber slide. It was down this sluiceway that the logs used in a ship's construction were sent careening down to the building site.  Aaron's daughter, Sarah Ann, married a sea captain, William Tufts. He drowned in Saint John Harbour in 1870 and she married again to Abner Clarke. In the early 1890's, the Clarke s moved to Fredericton and Aaron Sr followed them in 1895. He died in 1896 and is buried in an unmarked grave at the Sunnybank Cemetery in Fredericton.
    
    Jacob Berry DeLong, Aaron's son, became a sea captain, but also followed in his father's footsteps, building and refitting ships and it was Jacob's son, James, who continued the family tradition well into the 20th century. Some of the notebooks and records of the two men may now be viewed in the St Martin's museum.
    
    A brother to Jacob B. DeLong was Edward DeLong, a ship Carpenter. He married two sisters of the Captain William Tufts and in return for part ownership in vessels, helped the Tufts to build a few vessels probably at Long Beach, St Martins East. He died of sunstroke in 1898 in a Staten Island, New York, shipyard and is buried in the Berry Burying Ground in Bay View, St Martins East.
