    Isaac Casperse Hallenbeck filed a will in November 1708 (probated 28 March 1728). It stated that he was of Albany city and his wife was "of New York City." It named seven living children who would share his property which included an island in the Hudson River above Albany, other land, and personal property. He died in March 1709 and was buried at the Albany Lutheran church. Church records said he was about forty-nine years old!

    Isaac was administrator of the estate of his brother-in-law Hendrick Ver Wie 17 November 1684.  Two years earlier he was alleged to have threatened Anthony Lespinard with a knife, the act of a hot-headed youth.  He was nicknamed "Hop Horse." He continued the accumulation of Albany property begun by his father, buying in 1695 from Hendrick Van Rensselaer about 24 acres of flood land bordered south by the Beverkill, west by the woods, north by the hills, and east by the swamp.  His will also mentions an island in the river above Albany. He may have been the Isaac Holsembeeck, laborer, admitted 17 October 1696 freeman of New York City. He was probably the Isaacq Curpensen who signed petition 30 December 1701 pledging loyalty to King William. He served as deacon of the Albany Lutheran Church.  The 1697 census lists him with four children.
    
    Isaac Casperse was born in 1660. He was the third son of New Netherland pioneers Casper Jacobse and Maria Hallenbeck. He was known in Albany circles as "Isaac Casperse."
    
    By the 1680s, he had married Dorothy Bosch. They raised a family of who would be children baptized in the Albany Dutch church as late as 1706.
    
    These Hallenbecks lived in the first ward of Albany where he also owned an extensive tract that stretched from the stockade to the Beaverkill. He was an Albany mainstay whose city holdings were assessed on a par with the more successful merchants. In 1699, he joined his Albany neighbors in signing a loyalty oath to the king of England. Almost a decade later, his real property still was valued substantially (probably in reference to his extensive lands on the Southside) on the city assessment roll.
