Tryntie (Catherine) Jonas came to New Amsterdam as a professional midwife in the employ of the West India Company. She stood sponsor for her grandsons at their baptisms and finally for Hans Kierstede, her great-grandson, grandchild of her daughter Anneke Jans Roelof Bogardus.
